Do you believe that when you look at something over and over again then you have better chances of attracting what you look at towards you? Do you believe that when you read affirmations and practice feeling good that you will attract more of those feelings to you? The practice of gratitude is along these lines as well – the more you are grateful for what you have the more things you will attract to be grateful for. It is the law of attraction and it works irrespective if you believe in it or not. The law of attraction is powerful, it is real and you can use it to work for you instead of against you.

I created a vision board a few years back when I was in naturopathic medical school and little by little everything is coming to life. Some things obviously take longer than others because remember it’s not your time, it’s divine time. The recipe for life is trust + faith + patience every step of the way. Creating a vision board is a wonderful visualization tool to focus and clarify on specific life goals.

I split my vision board into four different hot corners – one for love, health, career, and home. You can do the same or choose different topics. There is no one way of creating you vision board. The only requirement is fun!

MATERIALS

  • Cork board, size is to your preference
  • Magazines and photos of things you want to attract
  • Pins and tacks
  • Paint, your favorite colors
  • Printer, photo (optional)
  • Scissors
  • Tape
  • Markers

Create a quiet space in your home, light some candles and turn on your favorite happy upbeat music. Before you start looking through your magazines and printed photos, take a moment to pause, close your eyes, take a deep breath in and exhale, what are your dreams? What does your dream life look like? What do you want, desire, deeply yearn for? When you gain some clarity, open your eyes and begin.

Before you start looking for images, you can paint your cork board with your favorite colors. I painted mine baby blue on the inside and the frame white. This is optional of course!

Cut out photos that speak to you, that symbolize the life you want and the things you desire. Make sure to include good quotes that motivate and uplift you. When you are finished gathering the contents of your vision board, start to lay them out before adding them on the vision board. Play with the layering of the images and quotes and find a juxtaposition that soothes your soul when you look at it. Remember, there’s no right way of doing this, it’s all right. Do what makes you happy and feel complete. You can always add more photos as life evolves.

On a piece of paper I wrote my personal mantra and pinned it in the center of my vision board.  Or you can use your favorite quote, something that inspires you, something you truly believe in that symbolizes this next chapter in your life.

When you are complete, put your vision board somewhere you will see it every day. Mine is by my bedside. Look at it as often as possible and for as long as possible. Take time to visualize your life, to see yourself in the photos as if they are already happening. What does that feel like? Good feelings accelerate your visions to come true.

Lastly, don’t rush to finish this process. This is your life, your dreams, your canvas and painting. Be thoughtful and find the right images that speak to you.
